Ohioans Against Extremism is launching our How to Be a Problem Training Series, starting with our 2-part workshop to teach Ohio advocates how to give a presentation about the ins and outs of the Ohio Statehouse. Attendees will learn the rules — both formal and unspoken — to advocating at the Statehouse effectively.
After completing the 2-part workshop, attendees will be prepared to present on “How Things Work At the Statehouse” to their own networks.
Then you’ll be able to give this presentation as many times as they want.

Spots are first-come, first-serve, and each section 1 training is capped at 15 participants.

About the Training
Learn the material from the best in the game, Rachel Coyle, co-founder of “How Things Work at the Statehouse” (and OAE’s Programs Director), and practice your skills with Rachel and OAE Executive Director Maria Bruno. After completing this 2 part program, you’ll be able to confidently train up your own community to advocate at the Statehouse.
HOW IT WORKS
Attend Section 1 Learning Session, “Learning the Presentation” (In-person or virtual, max 30 attendees/session)
Complete Section 2 Practice Session, “Practicing the presentation” (In-person or virtual, max 5 participants/session)
Present on your own! Present “How Things Work at the Statehouse” to your own networks (as many times as you want!)
DETAILS
SESSION 1 – Learning Session: Rachel and Maria will present the “How things work at the statehouse” presentation while providing context and guidance throughout. Each learning session is capped at 30 participants
SESSION 2 – Practice Session: Participants will present the “How things work at the statehouse” presentation in a small group and receive feedback from the trainer and their fellow presenters. Each practice session is capped at 5 participants. Section 2 may be scheduled only after completing Section 1
Payment covers both sessions and supplemental materials. the Section 1 Learning Session and Section 2 Practice Session as well as a take-home copy of the training PowerPoint with presenter notes and recording of the training presentation.
